Shepherd sketches on a Sunday

Wow what a week it has been. Last Sunday night  two lambs were born and then a couple of days after that another one came (thankful it was not another set of twins). The problem with these events is that now that winter has come, it seems to want to make up for all the lost time and the temperature is just dropping and dropping. Now according to the internet grown sheep with their wool can survive up to -40C but lambs get into problems below -10C.  Cool you say insulate the barn, but here's the hitch, a barn has to be well ventilated, if not the sheep might get pneumonia and other nasty ailments. As it is expected to be -30C sometime next week, the barn will drop to -20 or so, I will be heading to Riga to search for a heating lamp or I guess we will have to bring the mama's and babas inside the basement - which will not be as easy as it sound LOL  (hysterically)
In the meantime the night sky is phenominal and the sunrises are spectacular.
So here is a little sheep oriented sketch for Sunday Sketches.

BubbleGum on Creative Tuesday

Bubble gum - hmmm...  watercolour, colourpencil and ink
As I mentioned on Sunday I just finished the Supplies Me! course and in the course I was introduced to colour pencils and fell in LOVE!!! So I splurged and got a set of 132 Prismacolor Premier all the way from the States. They arrived this morning and I used them on the little doodle I did for this weeks Creative Tuesday  Bubblegum, and you know what these pencils are as good as they are reported, they are better than .... ;)
Here is a pic of the pencils  - yumm :)
Have a great day :)

Field full of flowers on a Sunday

I think I finally figured out what art journalling is or rather what it is to me. It is a place or space where I can allow myself to experiment with no thought of producing anything for sale. A space for me to indulge :)
This here is my last piece for the Jane Davenport Supplies me class, which was really cool and educational. This journal page is one of those things where things went wrong, however I do like the flowers in the field.  The main problem I had was the woman's face. The background is acrylic and intially for some reason the colour pencil held on her body, dress and the dog but her face, while it looked great, looked like a spirit - it was translucent.  I was tempted to keep it but quite frankly it spooked me and so I gessoed over the face to give the pencil some more grip, which did happen but it lost the loose whimsical feel that was there in the face and the hair. Oh well c'est la vie.  Pop by Sophia's Sunday Sketches and see what other have been up to.

p.s yes the sheep still lives.

A sweet fairy for Saturday.

For  Sweet Saturdays here's a little wool felted fairy I made this week. Well she could be called a multi media wool felted fairy as she has beads all over her and her wings are made up-cycling stockings ( well it would be up-cycling if I had old stockings LOL ). Hope you have a great Saturday!

A little girl on Sunday

a misty sunday here with a sprinkle of snow. One of the sheep got attacked by a dog - its tail is missing :( Not overly sure what to do. I know what should be done but the large animal vet is many towns ways and it is Sunday  and most farmers deal with these things themselves :( Anyway here is a multi media journal page for Sunday and for Sophia's Sunday Sketchers.

Creative Tuesday - 12 days of Christmas

a partridge in a pear tree
One of the well loved Christmas songs is Mr. T's Creative Tuesday theme i.e the 12 days of Christmas, I opted for what my true love gave to me on the first day of Christmas :) This little ACEO is made with coloured pencils on paper.  Hope you all had a great Christmas and a wonderful start to the new year.

Sunday 1st of 2012

It's Sunday, the first day of the week for some and the  first day of 2012!  It is also time for making  resolutions and rituals. I have not done the latter before with my kids but I think we will do it today - the writing on paper what you want to achieve and the burning of it.. or maybe that was only in Lent. So here is to new beginnings, fresh starts, and I hope some snow. Come on snow you have been missed!
Wishing you all a fantastic 2012 and all the Sunday Sketchers one too.
hugs

p.s this is a mix media journal page with a slightly over textured face - gives her some funny creases :) ignore the writing if you can :)

Art jornal attempt

A home work assignment I did over the xmas break when the kids were "not bored" with there new things. Now they are "bored" i.e underfoot :)
The Supplies me course is rather cool. I am  learning a lot and dicovering things .  I am not sure if I get what is art journelling but I do like the idea of making your own journal book which I consider more of a sketch pad that will not fall apart. This journal page is water colour and coloured pencil over things gessoed  or glued onto the paper.
Hope you had a great Christmas and see you in the new year:)  I've got 12 more days till they are back in school.
Cheers!

A xmas card on Sunday

It is the season and I could not feel guilt free if I did not make at least 1 Christmas card this year. So here it is, all splotches and crooked edges- pity the recipient :). Hope you have a wonderful Sunday and pop by Sunday Sketches and see what everyone is up to.
The little painting is watercolour on primed paper with some black and white pens.
Merry Christmas all !!!

just for the sake of painting

Just playing the fool with no rhyme or reason. For some reason birthdays are in my head, hence the pic I guess. Started the Jane Davenports Supplies me course after seeing some wonderful results of bloggy friends and hoping I will benefit too. Well off to blow my nose.
Cheers and hugs.

Kitty cat on Sunday

Ahh down with a cold still. It has been a week and life, kids and Christmas plays do not give leave to those of us who are sick :( This week I dragged myself about infecting as many of the good citizens who were not already infected ( not many mind you) and got what I need to put together for darling daughter's costume. There is no real rhyme or reason to costumes at pre-school here, it seems to be whatever the parent wish will do, and this year DD decided she wanted to be a cat and an orange cat at that. Well looking around the orange got axed and she has finally accepted she will be a brown cat. Here is a sketch of how I hope our final creation will look. It should not be very complicated as I found a second hand adult brown shirt and now I need to just added the bowa like multibrown yarnie thing, some pink felt and then make the bando, and whala it is  done. Ahh if the cold will just let up now.  Hoping you have a snot free Sunday and see the sun, and pop on by  Sunday Sketches.
Cheers.
