A little school bus sketch on a Sunday

On a little mini work break while my parents are in town and catching up on some sketches and such :) Here is a little rough sketch of some kids going to school  for  Sophia's  Sunday Sketches.  Hope you have a great day. :)

P.S Here is a really good link to a guide on facial expression

Scribbles for Sunday

It's Sunday the day so  I try to stay away from the pc ( kids are thrilled about this :) ). Here is my version drawing lab's  scribbly drawings and it Sunday - so yeah Sunday Sketches.

Started out with a blue ballpoint pen and then it was kidnapped. Then I found a black one. This is done on just simple printer paper.
The blue scribbles are our 2 dogs. The small one likes to rest on the big one. Daughter dear put a head kerchief (bandanna) on the large dog;  In the right upper corner is daughter day busy doing some type of  art. And the lower left with the misplaced ear ( this is why I like pencil it can be erased) is solemn son - he was doing home work.

Monday Corners

My day 29 Art Every Day art are a couple of corners doodles that I did when I got a moment of peace and quite.  The plan is to vectorise them for embroidery designs.

If you got a moment pop by Art Every Day to see some rather cool Day 29 art.

Sunday Sketches - Tautas Deja

Daughter dear had dancing practice today and I was allowed to watch as it was an on stage rehearsal for a concert (we are normally not permitted to watch), so I sketched a bit :)

They "folk dance", which in Latvia is almost like how ballet is in some other countries. Most kids here grow up doing some form of folk dance. The shoes, when they were when in costume, remind me of cross between Indian moccasin and ballet shoes, and they wear thick wool socks with symbols. At Gabs age group 5-7 there are about equal number of boys and girls.

And Art Every Day to see some super day 14 art!

IF: Old Fashion

I got an assignment this week which fitted into the Illustration Friday theme - Old fashion :) I am doing some illustrations for the old nursery rhyme Three Little Kittens. So here is a painted sketch of the first scene where they have lost there mittens. It is also done the old fashion way - with a real paintbrush and paints :) The pic below is why I paint digitally at present :)When I was out of the room my daughter decided it was time to practice writing her name :) Thank God for photoshop!

A day at the doc

Well it wasn't a real day, it just felt like it. I arrived just in time for my appointment and had a lovely 2 hour wait till my turn to get a spot checked out. While I was sitting in the cancer polyclinic my eye filled as I spotted the most good natured looking 4 year old with his dad waiting for their turn to see a doc. I hope I jumped to the wrong conclusion as the kid is a kid and bad things like cancer should not happen to kids.
Anyway a day or so ago a request for some angle kids clipart came up and I decided to take my sketchbook and try to sketch while there, and the little boy's hair style was so cute it featured in my sketch, Actually I feel rather skittish about drawing children as angels..sort of silly I know.
Yeah the left wing is kind of not right :)

Some wings

I asked the ladies and gents ( there maybe one or two) in my yahoo group if they had any suggestions for designs they would like to see. One of the suggestions was angel wings. While all the suggested are good, this one kept nagging at me. So yesterday when I got up at 3am, hoping to work on Anansi to discover windows would not boot since the pc was shut down incorrectly due to a power outage, I picked up the old pencil and started to sketch some wings. The pic is what I sketched so far. They are no wow wings but they a definitely a start :)

sketch - wacky wanda

I wish I could call this a daily sketch but I did a week or so ago and it has been sitting on my mess of a desk waiting to be joined by 6 other illustrations that would not just come :(
I think she wants a name before she will show herself. Was thinking Wander the witch but am not sure I wish to button hole.

The book mentioned in 2 previous post arrived this week - hooray!!! and it is even more fantastic that I thought it would be.

Well off to do something, it may even be art as the kids are out.
Cheers :)

Dancers sketch

At the moment I am working on these dancers for next week. I am not sure if they will be vector or not at the moment though :\

This is a thumb of one the finished line art and colour versions. I decided to colour them via photoshop so they were not vector in the end.

Sketch of November's freebie

2010 will be the year of the tiger. A tiger is truly awe inspiring. In honour of his coming year I have dedicated this month's yahoo group freebee for him. Here is the sketch I just did which I will hopefully (all members of the house are coughing and ill ( well minus me) and no fevers so no swine) complete today in line art /digital stamp and full colour format.

Decided I did not like the bear's arm sticking up lol

... as the day ends

Here are the finished versions which can be found in the group. The background of the colour version is not included.

a little angry spider

Spent the week doing a couple sketches for a book to most likely hit the press this time next year... yes it is a bit early to put pencil to paper but when the mood it hits it is a good thing to grab it. But even with all good intentions my pace was rather slow and hampered in someways the monsters were home two days this week and the youngest is still very mummy oriented at 4yrs. Anyway here is a preview of a sketch. The little spider is annoyed that his web has been broken. Well off to either work on more sketches, contemplate how to colour them or be cinderella to the monsters.

Colouring in progress

yesterday I discovered how to widen the columns of this blog - whey - now I feel less closed in when I look at it :)
Anyway here is one of the little flower girls in the progress of being painted. Not sure when it will be finished. I am rather scattered now-a-days and the thistles have decided it is time to shed and my nose is not co-operating with life.

This is being done in photoshop so it is digital. I wonder when I finally get to pick up a paintbrush if I will remember how to use it...

Groan

An idea thought is an idea out there - is what I have been told. Once you speak it or in my case sketch/ doodle it is out there more for the world to grasp. Now it has happened that on many an occasion I have doodle and sketched something which I would be doing for the site and then wham before I get it up on the pc or site, some one has beaten me to the punch. No copying, no talking to the other artist, just that they had the same idea as meFree Smiley Courtesy of www.millan.net Only really twice can I recall when it has happened that made me really want to band my head, and then of course this morning. I had this little sketch for a while and only on Friday did I decided and put to paper the full set and was going to work on it this week or next - Free Smiley Courtesy of www.millan.net.

Yes I know there are no new ideas but old ones coming around around again but ...
Oh well, that is life -thud thud ( banging my head on my desk).
