IF- Satellite

What to say, what to say... there are two things behinds this doodle. The main one is that I am trying to figure out how to paint a sunrise scene with digital watercolour. It would be no problem if I gave in and used the air-brush or photoshop but I wish to have a watercolour look from Painter. The other thing is a meaning of satellite that was bouncing around in my head but which I could not find in a dictionary. The definition I worked with was: a satellite is any body which follows a path around another. So in this doodle some flower fairies are performing a sunrise ritual around a hydrangea type flower.

Paisley

When I think paisley I think paramecium or some such thing... some organism from my microbiology classes, it is at the periphery of my mind and just out of reach..urggg. Last week's Illustration Friday was "paisley" and I was not going to do it and I didn't, but I have wanted to do some paisley designs for a while and so one night around midnight just before I closed my eyes I doodled these (they are real rough). I plan to turn these into some embroidery clipart but I am not total sure if just line or or full colour or coloured line art, or if I should leave them single or make things with them. The main problem I am having on that score is - what on earth does one do with a paisley design when it is not in cloth pattern or maybe an earring :? Ahh well off to ink out another Anansi page- I'm at page 8 only.

Tattoo cat freebie

Was playing with an earlier cat design and swirls, and feeling tad guilty about ignoring my site lol which unfortunately will continue this month and next even though the plants are all now planted, as I going to start to ink out (draw on the pc) the Anansi sketches and then paint them, so sets may be a while in coming to store, although I might get a single or two up. So to assuage my conscience here is a little freebie, please abide the terms of use which is contained in the zip. The files can be downloaded from here

p.s if anyone makes a card or something with it I would love to see it :)

sketch - wacky wanda

I wish I could call this a daily sketch but I did a week or so ago and it has been sitting on my mess of a desk waiting to be joined by 6 other illustrations that would not just come :(
I think she wants a name before she will show herself. Was thinking Wander the witch but am not sure I wish to button hole.

The book mentioned in 2 previous post arrived this week - hooray!!! and it is even more fantastic that I thought it would be.

Well off to do something, it may even be art as the kids are out.
Cheers :)

IF - Ripple

A doodle I'm for a digital stamp which in is part of a selection called UP :D. Read IF and decided to try Ripple and get into the art mode after a food shop. I used photoshop to ink and Painter's digital watercolour to paint and the words were added via indesign.

Has it come yet!?

I'm soo excited today. I started to ink out anansi and I ordered Dreamscapes: Creating Magical Angel Faery and Mermaid Worlds with Watercolor (Paperback) By (author) Stephanie Pui-Mun Law. I have no idea why I am so thrilled about getting this book as I am planning on using black pen outlines in anansi with strong watercolours and while it is fantasy it is not this type of thing. ahh well anyway it looks like a real cool book I just love the cover :).

digital watercolour doodle

Just doodling with Painters' camel hair watercolour brushes, making the emo girl older, and thinking about anansi painting technique, since there is no way on earth my two monsters will let me paint with real watercolours without the result being a family effort one way or the other :)

Yes, she looks like she needs to go to the loo. I think my stylus did a Freudian slip lol

Pretty alpha flower - in progress

I will complete this, this week even if it kills me!
It should not be that bad as I think I sorted out or rather created new illustrator brushes and am getting the lines the right size. What happened was when I started this eons ago I began it too small, so I scaled it up and then my brushes would not fit :( and of course the process which finally results in the creation of new brushes has to take it course - sort of like when you get a corrupted file you were working on. Somewhere in your head you know you will have to redo the whole thing but you refuse to face that fact only after farting around with the pc for about 4 hours. I was also trying to do with a minimum amoumt of little dotted lines, but the results were not pleasing so I apologise to all digitisers up front about my dots and french knots - possible a spaced out straight stitch might work? Well off to sort the lines out of the letters I have finished. This when completed will also contain the common letters - which are also half way done.
