Art jornal attempt

A home work assignment I did over the xmas break when the kids were "not bored" with there new things. Now they are "bored" i.e underfoot :)
The Supplies me course is rather cool. I am  learning a lot and dicovering things .  I am not sure if I get what is art journelling but I do like the idea of making your own journal book which I consider more of a sketch pad that will not fall apart. This journal page is water colour and coloured pencil over things gessoed  or glued onto the paper.
Hope you had a great Christmas and see you in the new year:)  I've got 12 more days till they are back in school.
Cheers!

A xmas card on Sunday

It is the season and I could not feel guilt free if I did not make at least 1 Christmas card this year. So here it is, all splotches and crooked edges- pity the recipient :). Hope you have a wonderful Sunday and pop by Sunday Sketches and see what everyone is up to.
The little painting is watercolour on primed paper with some black and white pens.
Merry Christmas all !!!

just for the sake of painting

Just playing the fool with no rhyme or reason. For some reason birthdays are in my head, hence the pic I guess. Started the Jane Davenports Supplies me course after seeing some wonderful results of bloggy friends and hoping I will benefit too. Well off to blow my nose.
Cheers and hugs.

Kitty cat on Sunday

Ahh down with a cold still. It has been a week and life, kids and Christmas plays do not give leave to those of us who are sick :( This week I dragged myself about infecting as many of the good citizens who were not already infected ( not many mind you) and got what I need to put together for darling daughter's costume. There is no real rhyme or reason to costumes at pre-school here, it seems to be whatever the parent wish will do, and this year DD decided she wanted to be a cat and an orange cat at that. Well looking around the orange got axed and she has finally accepted she will be a brown cat. Here is a sketch of how I hope our final creation will look. It should not be very complicated as I found a second hand adult brown shirt and now I need to just added the bowa like multibrown yarnie thing, some pink felt and then make the bando, and whala it is  done. Ahh if the cold will just let up now.  Hoping you have a snot free Sunday and see the sun, and pop on by  Sunday Sketches.
Cheers.

Creative Tuesday - MISTLETOE

For Creative Tuesday I took the black and white snowman one step further and added some colour, some glitter, some 3 d effect (not sure if that was a good idea) and some mistletoe. To me he sort of looks like some benign nebulous being :) And if you look real close you will see he is wearing it like a mistletoe corsage :)
Hope you all have a great Tuesday.
Cheers
oh it would be really cool if I had some Marchy Uchida Snow Marker. Has any one ever tried it? I think that would have worked better than the glitter- oh well that is life :)

Snowman on a snowy night

At Wicked Wednesday this week the theme is Black and White, so I thought  sheep in the dark - seeing only the whites of their eyes and bit of wool - if the sheep are nice clean non-romping around the bush and neighbourhood sheep aka not my sheep. So I sat and look at a 2.5x3.5 inch black piece of card, and looked and looked really hard until my latent secrete desire for snow (which has not as yet come this winter) emerged and I began to see the outlines of a snowman on a dark snowy winter's night.
White colour pencil on black card.
Hope you are all keeping warm.

A medley on Saturday

I've been rather bad at posting this month - ack ! So here is a medley of post in one as the chances are I will not get to post again till sometime next week.

A  whimsical little felted birdie  for Whimsical Wednesdays.
A sweet little snowman for Sweet Saturdays - yup needle felted again.

A whimsical snowman for Sunday Sketches.
Yup  I was a little obsessed with felting this week. It is enjoyable but sort of strange thing to sit down to do in the day and then say okay I am felting today for work as creating is a touch and go process and rather hard to equate time spent and price of the finish project.
I wonder, how do you price your work?
Well I am off to get another cup of coffee, pick up a pencil and do some real art work (which I should have started yesterday :P).  I hope you all had a great week, Thanks giving, and have a super weekend.
Hugs.

A Sunday sketch :)

Yesterday when I went to the post office to send off  my first two Etsy sales - big smile - I saw and bought some Xmas cards which were inspirational. So for Sunday Sketches here are my inspired sketches.  Hope you have a great Sunday.
Cheers

P.S. Here is a interesting article about infringement vs inspiration regarding copyright  http://www.findlaw.com.au/articles/1041/the-fine-line-between-inspiration-and-copyright-in.aspx

p.p.s and yes JSL  ladies these will be in the dropbox soon :)
ppps - art every day 20

Upon waking

Some time this last week I deleted a whole set of files to a now defunk website of mine and this morning when popping by my blog I discovered " Ack!!- I deleted my background!!" Well I guess it was a time for a change :) Not sure how I will like the new font. A bit difficult to read, it is okay in common letters but rather illegible with capitalized words. Two things that mess up my senses, lack of sleep and pregnancy. No not pregnant (thank the Lord) but I still shudder and smile when I remember what I bought in the throws of hormones :). Off to do some work.
Cheers
p.s the reason I was up late last night - the little needle felted doll. I decided to just finish her.
p.p.s. I had to change the text in the body back. As much as I like the script in the post headers, it was near impossible to read in the side menues :)
And you know what it is Saturday and I am posting - yeah! - so it is time for Sweet Saturday. So pop by Diana's Sweet Saturday and see what everyone's cooked up  today.
PPPS.  You know it is Sunday and not Saturday .. so my head is really out of it - ahh lack of sleep :)
PPPPS - art every day 19 :)

Day 15 WIP tweet!

I would not blame you if you thought the WIP (work in progress) was cleaning my desk ( the tissue is not used! - it  holds the camera straight, and that is not a code for anything - if your eyes are that good :) - Yup I noticed all this after I took the photo.
Not an overly bad day today. The sheep did not wonder overly much where they should not be (I don't think they have reached our neighbours garden as yet),  I altered a little program and it still computed in the end (yeah) and I started to make this bird. Well that is the upside. On the down side we have to wait 2 days to a week before transport is available to move the hay to our house and I spent the morning trying to sort out some thoughts/sketches into a composit sketch for a client which I am really not happy with as I do not think it was working. I was going not to send it to the client and ex the job, but hubby said send it anyway. I am not sure if I should hope that they like it or that they don't :) Ahh life.
Cheers

Penguin drags on a Sunday

I needle felted on Saturday, drew blood only 3 times and luckily did not get it on the penguin as the colour is not the best at hiding the red stuff,  and I am only getting around to putting it up on the net today, because 1. the light was not co-operating and 2. more importantly, my camera batteries were hijacked for a more important application - the toy dog that yips and walks.  So today is Day 13 of Art Every Day for a month (honestly I do some art every day, but some can't be posted - work and some I am just too la... ahem I mean the camera won't work :) ) and since it is Sunday it is time for Sophia's Sunday Sketches - yeah!
Hope you had a great day.

AEDM - day 10 - Angelscape 3

Phew I did something today. I was not sure it was getting anywhere and somehow it looks ..well not very happy or peaceful. The gold this time seemed to have turned out better in the photo than the real thing. This ACEO is with watercolours and gold watercolour pencil. Off now to look after the sheep. I would like to do at least two more angelscapes to have a nice set, but I feel the pull of the wool - I obviously have to much blood in me and need to be let out with some jabs of the needle. Hope you are having a great day.
Cheers

Angelscape 2 on Wednesday

I decided to do a series of these , so I am hoping to do at least one more this week. Doing more than one of something is something of a challenge for me :)
Here is a little ACEO , it is watercolour and acrylic. I guess it is my entery for AEDM day 8 and 9 and for Wicked Wednesday's ATC challenge whose theme is Angel.

Cheers
Jehanne

And ACEO or ATC (an art card) is any creation that is 2.5x3.5 inches.

No name angel on a Sunday

Ahh yesterday was a day of drudge all art impulses and desires where put on hold to do the other necessary things in life. However before I went to bed I did a little ACEO background and then this morning did this little angel on it.  It looks rather anatomical to me LOL .
Well so here's my day 5 and 6 of Art Every Day for a month and my Sunday Sketches entry.
Hope all are having a great day. The sun is shining here :)
And yup this is an ACEO - watercolour, and acrylic with a touch of gold pen.

Alice in wonderland - mushroom time

Today is day 4 of Art every day for a month and I decided to do this week's  Wicked Wednesday ATC challenge which is Alice in wonder land.   So if you got a moment pop these two wonderful challenges as see what every one else is up to.  The colours came out a bit more muted than I would have likes. I think  that is because I used white acrylic paint and water with the watercolour pencils.
Hope you have an artsy day.
Cheers

Thursday Art - Robis

Well I signed up for Art every day for a mont i.e November. So here is my Wednesday piece -  a little needle felted dachshund. One thing I learned doing this is, it is terribly difficult to take pics of balk felt lol.
Hope all have an artsy day, and pop by Art Ever Day for a Month.
Cheers.

3 little robins on a winter's day

Morning all, a little last minute with this entry :) Here is my threesome of Wicked Wednesday ATC challenge.   I made a mistake starting out on the wrong type of paper - bristle board I think, and the result is a mixed media painting with pen, watercolour and acrylic and some white gel pen.
Cheers.

Sheep - overnighter.

Maa - taken by Gab in summer
Speckles taken by Gab in Summer
Things come in 3 they say. Usually they say that for bad things and not good things. Well yesterday I hope we covered all 3. To start with which might not be related was the clocks went back an hour. For some reason the going back and forth of the time really bothers me. Maybe because I grew up with 12hours day and night all the time, and the result is that winter - summer time takes me about a week to adjust to.  Well I seem not to be the only one effect, our flock of 24 sheep also seemed to have had a mix up with the time yesterday.  Our wool babies roam on about 15 hectares and the usually come home just after dark wagging there tails behind them.  But last night at 6pm there were no sheep at the fence. So I went out to look for them. Let me tell you something about sheep, they do not come when they have been called, they do not answer, they do not move, they stay mum the whole time.  Looking for non-cooperative animals in tall grass with a torch light ... well let just say after an hour I came home, and hubby dear went out to have a search. By 9.30 he too came home with no sheep. On the up side the temp was 10C (warmer than it had been for a while.).  An hour before we noticed the sheep being awol the water pump stopped working!  And he was not able to fix it, thankfully we have a "Jack and Jill type" well so I was able to get water even though the well bucket has a whole lol.
Well today is Monday and so far it has been much better. I found the *@$* sheep this morning (and in the area they are meant to be) and hubby seems to have fixed the pump, I can't do or say  much about the time except that we all woke up early and everyone got to school on time . So I guess "tomorrow will always be a brighter day" - even though it is really overcast today- is true and I did not have to think of "every cloud has a silver lining"  :) In the meanwhile I need to get the little bow-peep nursery rhymne out of my head :)
Hope you have a great day ♥

Creative Tuesday's "Autumn" fae

The leaves have changed all around us now, all golden, with hints of red and some dark green, and the sky the most gorgeous shade of blue with what looks like purple, pink and grey mixed in the day. It is also the time for Autumn's magical creatures and here's one for Creative Tuesday.
So pop on by Creative Tuesday  and  by Mr. Toast's and find what  the other CTers interpreted the Autumn theme.

ATC Challenges at Wicked Wednesdays!

"I'm really not scary. Just misunderstood."
was Frank's reply in a recent interview.

Frank is my entry of Wicked Wednesday ATC challenge this week. The theme is Halloween.
I think Frank came out a bit more sickly than I planned :)
Coloured pencil on bristol board with black pen.

A little of this and that on a Sunday.

Happy Sunday all. It a bright brisk Autumn morn about 5C, the sheep are out and the ewes seem to be butting each other..hmmm  Anyway thinking of warmer times i.e Summer. This summer I had the opportunity to work on some illustrations with my childhood friend, Sue. It a story about the steel pan seen through a little girl and told in verse. At the back of the book there are some historial info and facts on the steel pan.  How Sue and I worked together - she drew beautiful sketches, line art and paintings,  and I then put it all in the the computer, created linart from the sketches, , combined various elements, altered and painted using photoshop.
It was an interesting project as our styles are quite different, but in the end I think it turned out well.

This street scene is from the history section  and is one of my favourites. As the illustration depicts a scene that is "old" the characters in the procession were all played by men.
The book is now out and available from book depository and amazon com

My entry to Sunday Sketches this week is a little felted robin I did this morning. I only mange to draw blood once :) an improvement.  Hope all have great Sunday and may you sheep stay on the right side of the fence and your kids wear wooly hat:)  Pop on by Sophia's Sunday Sketches and check out what everyone is up to.
Cheers.

ATC Challenges at Wicked Wednesdays!

A new little blog has started up with some fun themed ATC challenges. The blog is called Wicked Wednesday and this week's theme is It's All About You! So come and check it out!
This is my ATC entry for the challenge. I guess my truth to the theme is that is  a lie. I am truly a sexy blond with huge eyes, a saucy attitude with the fragrance of channel, and  not a greying brunet, who has on sweats (clean ones) and with oud de barn wafting around :)
Off to take a bath :)
Cheers
.....
I updated the pic today as I was not happy with it. On the mini easel is the final jazzed up version.  I added some glitter, to the lips 3d effect, and white gel pen. I also used my art knife to help correct some line errors and added more colour.

Cupcake on the go on a Creative Tuesday.

This week's Creative Tuesday Theme is Cupcake, and the image I have seen before of a cupcake with a mouse peeking out kept coming to mind, it is such a cute image. So I sat and thought and thought and on my way to drop daughter dear to dancing it came to me - the before shot , before the mouse poses happily with the cake... i.e the get away.
This little ACEO is done on paper (no idea what type other than acid free and pricey) with colour pencil, black ink pen, and of course white gel pen ( just because I have it - it was rather superfluous here LOL).
So pop on by Creative Tuesday  and  by Mr. Toast's and find out how the other CTers interpreted the cupcake theme :)

Oh my blogger is not being friendly tonight. This is a little ATC  was inspired by having to create something with the kids for teacher's day. It is watercolour pencil/water and gold pen. So hoping you all had a great Sunday and pop by And pop by Sophia's Sunday Sketches to see what the other artists' have done this week :)
Cheers
p.s I am so pooped, so if my above makes no sense ... ah well.. :)

ACT vs ACEO thoughts

Here's a little fella I have created for an ATC swap. He was created a whopping 9 times! Yeah don't ask it was a bit much for me and rather a challenge as the ATC swap is rather crafty- give me paper, and paint and a little glitter - super: give me some ribbon and stuff - yikes it takes a day to do the thing :)

On the ATC front I think I will open and esty store with them and brave the highs and lows of shoppers and the post office. However, I have been wondering what to call my stuff. I figure if I draw it all on paper with my pencil then paint etc it would be and ACEO , but what happens when I use line art  created on the  computer (and I sell this line art as art stamps) then print the line art  and colour it by hand?  While it might be a one of a kind, it sort of isn't. Can it still be called ACEO or does it just become ATC, as it is not really a print either. Any thought on this would be great because it would effect the price of the thing. Another point to ponder in this is the fact that I sell the line art stamps( digital stamps), so others too can create something with the same line art.

Emo Princess Halloween on a Sunday

I actually did this last week, but yesterday and so far this morning have been days from hell- well they could have been worst. Just hell because what I wanted to do I could not. Yesterday I spent all morning sorting out some electrified fencing for the sheep, but they still managed to ignore it ( 3 times) and spent the day outside the fencing with me playing shepherdess. Then, this morning I woke with a headache and went downstairs to the sweet smell of my 42kg (92lb) dog "accident", then the kids woke with needing to talk with me every minute, then look at the fencing for the sheep, let the wooly babies out, who then went missing - Thank God not on the highway but towards another field, and then to clean 10 of the 40 roofing sheets I said I would do for the hay shelter and of course the internet is not working well.  Ahhh ..
This is a little ACEO is done with watercolour pencil and water,  colour pencil, lines I did via illustrator.
Off to have some breakfast and hope my coffee will work and make me sane, then to scrub some more roofing sheets :(.
Hope your Sunday is going much better than mine . And pop by Sophia's Sunday Sketches to see the other artists' work - okay :)
Looking forward to Monday.

A little funk on a Whimscial Wednesday

Feeling rather funky with this cold and can't settle to do anything, so I did this doodle for the monthly Whimsical Wednesday. It has a number of errors, but I think it is a rather cool idea for an ATC once I get the girl sorted out :) Hope you have a great Wednesday, pop by, see and join Whimsical Wednesday this month.

Creative Tuesday's Kitchen

Last fortnight Mr Toast gave us the challenging theme of "Kitchen" to let our imaginations run wild with.  Being relatively lazy in nature I wondered how oh how can I do a kitchen without much things in it. For my kitchen tends to be cluttered with miscellaneous items which not belong there (my opinion not the rest of the family's). Alas, I did not get wish to do as I am naturally inclined and cracked and cackled, resulted in this kitchen scene. Did anyone else cackle with this Creative Tuesday challenge? Pop by Mr. Toast's and find out :)

The illo was done on watercolour paper with watercolour pencils and colour pencils and it about 13.5  x 9.4 cm.  Line art created via Illustrator and then printed out via my trust Epson printer.
Hope you have a great day :)

BearFae on a Sunday

A little whimsical ACEO for Sunday Sketches.  Watercolour pencil and a tab of colour pencils on watercolour paper.

Summer seems to be over, the kids are back in school and we are all down with our first back to school cold.
Hope you all are well and pop by our darling Sohphia's blog and see what the SS artist have thought up this week.

A Moon On Creative Tuesday

Mr Toast's Creative Tuesday Theme this week is Moon. So for it I experiemented with printed words on paper and then a drawing on top. I did not get the effect that I wanted I think because I used mainly water colour pencils and then colour pencils,- it might work better with acrylics but I am to lazy at the moment to dig them out :)
The history of the ACEO is that this is one of the dress rehersals for the real Hey Diddle Diddle and the cow did not make it over the moon. She blamed it on the moon not being full and hence her judgement, persepective, angle and speed were off.
Hope you all have a great Tuesday and pop by Mr Toast's to see what the other artist have done this Creative Tuesday.
Cheers :)

A Sunday Kitty

Sunday sweet Sunday. Another week that has gone in the blink of an eye. I spent the last 6 weeks working on 23 book illustration and finished the last one on Wednesday night - yeah. However now I am in the I can't settle to  draw phase - sob, my brain seem to be just refusing to allow my hand to  even pick up pencil- yikes!.
Regular SS-er may recall a while back Marlene did some felting sheep and I was really intrigued.  So when I went to the art and craft store and saw some felting wool I had to buy it. After which I discovered I need a felting needle.. which I then ordered via ebay lol. Sooo on  Friday feeling completely art zapped I felted this little kitty.  It looked nothing like the sketch but thankfully it was not covered in blood from my felting wounds and it did look like a recognizable cat :).

On a sad note Sophia, her dad and her family are in need to our prayers as her dad's cancer has taken a turn for the worse :(  Sophia you are in our thoughts and prayers.

In Sophia's absence dear Heather at Rose Hill designs is hosting Sunday Sketches. So pop on by and see what the SSers are up to this week.

Hanging out the washing on Sunday Sketches

I can't the believe the week has zoomed by. We spent two days canoeing and camping and I forgot the suncream and am burnt to a cinder- ouch.  Actually I am so behind in some work that I did not think I would make SS this week but this bit of whimsy was calling out to be drawn. I think it said to many fairies and mermaids have been drawn recently. So in this sketch a witch is getting ready for halloween, and the important things have been washed and are now out and drying.
Hope you have a great Sunday and pop by our darling Sohphia's blog and see what the SS artist have thought up this week.

Happy Sunday Everyone. I am sooo glad Saturday is over :) Yup it was one of those day. This little ACEO (2.5x3.5")is done with watercolour pencil, colour pencil, and black pen and so white gel pen. Have a great Sunday and pop by our darling Sohphia's blog and see what the SS group is up this week.

Waiting on an egg on Paint Party Friday

ATC or ACEO? That is the question. One is meant only to be trade the other can be sold.  In the meanwhile I will stuff it in a drawer. In the background (as some wondered) are two more birds (peacocks) with there eggs and some palm trees of sorts.  Yup they are really small. The picture shown here is the actual size of the illustration- 2.5x3.5inches.
Painted with watercolour pencil and water, colour pencil, and white gel pen ,on watercolour paper, backed with card.
Hope you have a great Friday and pop by the Paint Party Friday  and see other artists fab paintings :)

Sketch on Sunday Sketches

I have been wanting to do this illustration for a while but have been daunted by time it might take, and then last week (or the week before) I made an ATC (artist trading card) and was thrilled. ATC seem to be basically anything as long as they are within the dimensions of 2.5x3.5 inches.  This is great as it is something I can finish within allotted  art-free-from-being-a-mummy-time. So here is the sketch of the ATC. I will post the colour version when I finish it. I hope in time for Friday and that I realise it is Friday on Friday. But, today is now Sunday so pop on by Sophia's Sunday Sketches  and see what fabulous work our SS friends have this week.
Cheers

Relaxing cutwork on Sunday

I sit and watch our sheep graze and hope that we have come to an understanding about boundaries. On  Thursday we got a flock of 17 sheep and were not ready for them, so they had the run of the place so to speak. Friday we finished setting up the electrical fence - the Economical version- and they laughed at that. Saturday we had the almost the optimal version (4 as of opposed to  2 strings of wire) and they seem to be respecting this so far (knock on wood).   No, no sheep drawing as yet :)
To try to relax my brain I got out my art knife and played with a bird doodle and a sweet cheeks image.
- just a scrap of plane  paper

- added black acrylic paint and then a 3d type lacquer finish. Do not really like the result here and it stuck to the paper. Need to invest in felt-pens if I wish to colour the cut work as the paint makes it too soft and sticky .

Hope you have a wonderfully relaxing Sunday and pop by Sophia's Sunday Sketches to to see some wonderful art.
Cheers

Summer time on a Tuesday with Mr Toast :)

Mr Toast aka Mmm gave us 3 weeks for this Tuesday's challenge - Summer break - and as I finally started to turn last summers sketches into line art I decided "Yes, I will do it".  Granted this morning at 10 the pieces for the above all over the room and not put together nor the painting finished :)
This little piece is done with water colour (from watercolour pastels ,which I don't think I like as they seem to come off the paper when dry) and colour pencils.
And of course there is a cut an paste element to it :)
Hope you have great week and pop my Mr. Toast 's Creative Tuesday and join the fun :)

Splish Splash on a Sunday

Acutally it should be plick, plink  as it a cool dark Sunday with the hope of rain or hail, which is a bit of a relief from the last couple of sweltering day.  Here's a little mermaid  watercolour (via watercolour pencils) on watercolour paper for SS :). Have a great Sunday and pop on over to Sophia's Sunday Sketches to see some cool art!
Cheers
